The Sacra di San Michele is a place with a suggestive atmosphere, located at approximately 1 km (0.62 miles) above sea level, towering over the surrounding nature.

A symbolic monument of Piedmont, the Sacra di San Michele offers a panoramic view between the Cottian Alps and the Po Valley and is the first stop on the Via Francigena. It inspired “The Name of the Rose” by Umberto Eco.

The foundation on which it is built measures about 26 meters (85 feet), and founded around the 10th century, it later became one of the most important centers of the Benedictines.
