Collina Santo Stefano, Atina

In pre-Roman and Roman times, the area corresponded to the fortified acropolis of Atina, a strategic point for controlling access to the Samnium region through the valleys of Cassino and Sora.

A distinctive feature of the polygonal walls of Atina is the presence of two separate circuits

  • Inner circuit: encloses the top of the hill
  • Outer circuit: includes Monte Morrone, Monte Prato, and the Colle
